The Interactive Tour

Come enjoy an up-close and intimate look at wolves and wolfdogs. Gain a better understanding about wolf behaviour through the wolfdogs at our sanctuary and how this behaviour fundamentally differs from domestic dogs. This is also a great opportunity to learn about the importance of wolves in our ecosystem, and why it’s so important to preserve them in our natural environment.

This exclusive tour has limited availability and restricted numbers per tour to ensure the wolfdogs stay inquisitive and close during your visit. You will also have plenty of photo opportunities and ample time to speak with a sanctuary team member leading the tour.

  • Maximum 10 people per tour.
  • Children must be 15 years and older, please.
  • This tour is currently not wheelchair accessible.
  • Tours cannot run with just 1 guest…please call our staff to book with other guests if you’re a solo visitor.
  • If you are scared of big dogs, this tour is not for you!
  • ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS permitted on Sanctuary grounds at any time. No exceptions!

Cancellation Policy:

We have a hassle-free 24 hour cancellation policy. Just call us at least 24 hours prior to your tour to cancel (or reschedule) and receive a full refund, no questions asked.

Unfortunately, any cancellations or changes received within 24 hours of your tour, late-comers or no-shows, will not be rescheduled or refunded. You will be charged the full amount and it will be considered a donation to the Sanctuary. We understand there are some circumstances that are unavoidable, and we will always try to be as accommodating as possible.

Q: How long is the wolfdog tour?
A:  The tour itself is a 45-60 minute experience, however you will have lots of time before or after your tour to explore the entire sanctuary.

Q: When does the tour run?
A: Tour times are 10.30am, 12pm, 2pm and 3.30pm all season round…but we’re closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Q: How much does the tour cost?
A: The price is $61 per person.

Q: What should I bring with me?
A:  You should dress comfortably as you will be seated outside for the duration of the tour.  Be sure to bring a camera!

Q: What is included in the tour?
A:  This is our all-inclusive tour of the sanctuary that allows guests to enjoy all the programs offered at the sanctuary! Guests can expect to meet several different packs of wolfdogs and get a detailed talk with one of our experienced staff members in order to get a detailed understanding of wolfdogs and wolf behaviour. Before or after the tour, guests will have plenty of opportunity to explore the entire Sanctuary!

Q: Do you pick us up?
A:  No, you will need to meet us at our Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary location on Range Road 53 on Highway 1A, 60 mins from Banff (10 mins west of Cochrane).

Q: Can children come?
A: Children must be aged 15 and over.

Q: How big are the groups?
A: The maximum is 10 guests per session.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: There is a 24 hour cancellation policy, you can change/cancel or refund your booking 24 hours outside your booked tour (up to 7 days for group booking). If you fail to show up for your designated tour time, you will still be charged the full amount and it will be considered a donation to the Sanctuary.

Q: Should I tip?
A: Tips are not expected but our staff certainly appreciates them. If you had a great day and wish to indicate so through a tip to the staff they are graciously accepted.
