Intro Tour

Want to know more about wolfdogs? Enjoy the opportunity to learn all about the sanctuary and get an introduction to what wolfdogs are all about. This is a great way to photograph one of our packs of wolfdogs as well as having full access to one of our wolfdog experts.

This tour is offered at 10:45am, 12:15pm, 1:15pm, 2:15pm, 3:45pm. Drop-ins are welcome, however large groups (10+) will require a booking.

$31 per person

In addition to the Sanctuary Walk, this tour provides an introduction to wolfdogs as guests are taken inside one of our enclosures and given a 30 minute presentation on wolfdogs. Guests can expect to learn general information on wolfdogs and our mission at the sanctuary.

Itinerary & Highlights:

  • A 30 minute presentation given by one of our wolfdog caretakers in addition to the Sanctuary Walk
  • Entry into one of the wolfdog enclosures (behind a short barrier)
  • Photograph the wolfdogs from inside their enclosure
  • There is no interaction with the wolfdogs on this tour!

Things to Remember:

  • Dress for the weather, you will be outside.
  • This is a standing tour; seating is not available.
  • Remember to bring your camera!

Restrictions:

  • Children must be 12 years and older, please.
  • This tour is currently not wheelchair accessible.
  • Please do not bring any pets, including dogs, to the Sanctuary.
  • Groups of 10 or more will require a reservation to ensure availability.

Q: How long is the Sanctuary Walk?
A: The tour itself is a 30 minute experience, however you will have lots of time before or after your tour to explore the entire sanctuary.

Q: When can I come to do a Sanctuary Walk?
A: Tour times are 10.45am, 12,15pm, 2.15pm and 3.45pm all season round…but we’re closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Q: How much does the tour cost?
A: The price is $31 per person.

Q: What should I bring with me?
A:  You should dress comfortably as you will be outside for the duration of the tour.  Be sure to bring a camera!

Q: What is included on the Intro Tour?
A: The experience includes an introductory talk with one of our experienced staff members, to understand more about wolfdogs and what we do at the sanctuary. Specifically, guests will be taken into a closed off section of the Engadine enclosure to view a pack of high content wolfdogs. In addition to the tour, guests will also be able to explore the entire sanctuary to view the 20+ wolfdogs on site.

Q: Will I be able to touch the wolfdogs?
A:  No, the Intro Tour does not involve any interaction with the wolfdogs. For guests interested in this, we recommend doing the Interactive Tour!

Q: Do you pick us up?
A:  No, you will need to meet us at our Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary location on Range Road 53 on Highway 1A, 60 mins from Banff (10 mins west of Cochrane).

Q: Can children come?
A: Children must be a minimum of 12 years old.

Q: Do I need a reservation?
A: Since the Intro Tour has a capacity of 20+ guests, a reservation is typically not required. For groups of 10 or more, to ensure availability a reservation is recommended.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: There is a 48 hour cancellation policy, you can change/cancel or refund your booking 48 hours outside your booked tour (up to 7 days for group booking).

Q: Is there a gift shop?
A: Yes, we have a gift shop with a variety of merchandise for sale. All the proceeds of the items sold in the gift shop go directly towards caring for the animals at the sanctuary, as well as continuing our rescue efforts.
